This document contains the National Rural Development Program (PNDR), which covers the entire national territory and refers to the period between 2014 and 2020. This programming instrument has as its objective the measures aimed at promoting the development of rural areas of the country. country, boost the agri-food industry and the agricultural and forestry sector. The document also includes an Evaluation Plan and a Financing Plan. The PNDR seeks to make agriculture and forestry more productive and sustainable. Measures are contemplated to restore, conserve and improve ecosystems related to agriculture and forestry. One of the primary objectives of the Program is to reduce rural poverty. The document specifically promotes social inclusion (attention is given to women and young people), poverty reduction and economic development in rural areas. The PNDR promotes inclusive and efficient agricultural and food systems. Provision is made for measures to promote the organization of the food chain (including the processing and marketing of agricultural products) and to promote the transfer of knowledge and innovation in agriculture, forestry and rural areas. In addition, it seeks to improve the viability of farms and the competitiveness of all types of agriculture in all regions and promote innovative agricultural technologies and sustainable management of forests. The creation of producer groups and organizations is also encouraged. With respect to increasing the resilience of livelihoods in the face of threats and crises, the document pays particular attention to risk management in agriculture, in addition to promoting resource efficiency and supporting the transition to a low carbon economy. and resistant to climate change in the agricultural, food and forestry sectors.
