This Resolution consisting of 34 articles aims at: reaching acceptable levels for the disposal of various types of waste water in public sewage network; achieving safe levels of re-use of treated waste water in agricultural irrigation, irrigation of public parks and recreational places, for future groundwater recharge, cooling uses, and for industrial and any other purposes; organizing monitoring system of sewage treatment plants; and ensuring the maximum utilization of treated water as a non-traditional sources of water in accordance with the legal standards. The Resolution deals also with: duties of building owners, and governmental and private entities with respect to sewage treatment and disposal; compliance with the standards prescribed by the Regulation for using treated water for irrigation, aquaculture and recreational areas; statement of the powers of inspectors, accredited observers and staff regarding the implementation of the rules; rules for using the sludge in agriculture. License issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water is needed to use treated sewage water emerging from private or public treatment plants; written permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Water before conducting direct injection of treated wastewater into the ground, and after making sure that it matches the technical standards; and in case of discharge of treated sewage in the sea, the national standards for the protection of the environment must be followed.
