The Decree provides for preventing and control on the potential contamination with micro-organisms and chemical residues in foodstuff and their effects, applying a series of procedures to guarantee the safety and hygiene of all edible products from their cultivation to their processing as food stuff. It involves testing the foodstuff quality, hygiene and safety standards (FQHS) on centralized and decentralized laboratories, the legal and scientific documentations related to the system, the evaluation of the presence and usage of fertilizers, food additives and other possibly contaminating substances; training and regular updating of personnel involved in the activities of farming, breeding, slaughtering, processing edible products (included those deriving from aquaculture) and , furthermore, the identification of the authorities and Agencies responsible for the actuation of the scheme.
