Decree No. 169 of 2000 on environmental protection (Environmental Protection Decree).

The Decree concerns principally environment permits applied for and issued in accordance with provisions of the Environment Protection Act.; The Decree consists of 44 articles divided into 9 Chapters: Environmental permit requirements (1); Competence of the permit authorities (2); Permit applications; (3); Processing of permit applications and permit decisions (4); Notification procedure (5); Supervision and monitoring (6); Miscellaneous provisions applying to the authorities (7); Miscellaneous provisions (8); Notification or applying for a permit after the coming into effect of the Environmental Protection Act (9).; An environmental permit shall be required in respect of the activities referred to in section 28, paragraph 1 of the Environmental Protection Act (86/2000) and listed in article 2 of this Decree, and concern, inter alia: timber treatment and processing; those facilities handling fisheries products which come under the Act on Food Hygiene of Foodstuffs of Animal Origin including dairies, sugar refineries, plants for handling or processing potatoes or root crops; livestock production and fish farms of a specified size; waste and water management; raw water treatment plants using surface water.
