Environmental Protection (Effluent Limitations) Regulations, 1995.

Regulations to control the discharge of effluents into any inland water or the marine environment. The 27 regulations are divided into 8 Parts: Preliminary (I); New Sources of Discharge (II); Acceptable Conditions of Discharge into Inland Waters (III); Discharge of Effluent and Sludge onto Land (IV); Licence to Discharge Effluents (V); Miscellaneous (VI); Fees (VII); Penalties (VIII).; The Minister may, by Order, require the installation of anti-pollution equipment in industries (reg. 4). No owner or operator shall cause or permit any effluent to be discharged from any industry specified in the First or Second Schedule in quantities higher than specified in those Schedules (reg. 5). Every industry which discharges effluent shall ensure that such effluent can be assimilated by the receiving water and shall supply regularly information to the Department on the composition of treated effluents (reg. 7).
