This Act consists of 189 sections, divided into 14 Parts, and provides for the management of the environment in Yukon. Part 1 is dedicated to environmental rights, Part 2 to environmental responsibilities, it establishes the Yukon Council on the Economy and Environment and regulates its operation. Part 3 is dedicated to partnerships with the Government of Canada, with Yukon municipalities and with the private sector and non-governmental organizations. Part 4 concerns administration of the Act, Part 5 integrated resource planning and management and Part 6 development approvals and permits. Part 7 is dedicated to waste management, Part 8 to waste reduction and recycling, Part 9 to the release of contaminants, Part 10 to the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances and pesticides and Part 11 to spills. Part 13 concerns enforcement of the Act and related regulations and Part 14 provides for offences and penalties.
