Baotou Iron & Steel Energy Efficiency Project

The project's goal was to increase wastewater treatment and reuse in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) region by providing technical assistance to strengthen policies, facilitate investments in technologies and their adoption, increase demand, and strengthen local capacity. One of the project outcomes was to improve the water quality of the Mediterranean and MENA region and contribute to the regional and global efforts to reduce nitrogen pollution and eutrophication.
