International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) (part of CGIAR), Kenya, IITA has several ongoing activities in the Lake Victoria catchment that fit in the context of Towards INMS. In addition, one of the IITA scientists is coordinating the activities of the Africa Regional Centre of the International Nitrogen Initiative; his work also fits well into Towards INMS. IITA has also established a strong partnership with many development partners interest in N management for improve food and energy production without pollution. The contribution of IITA will mainly focus on scaling up technologies intended to improve N agronomic efficiency in the context of too little N to minimize land degradation and environmental pollution.
