Klaipeda Geothermal Demonstration Project
Funder/Donor
World Bank
Overview
The project aimed to demonstrate the feasibility and value of using low temperature geothermal water as a source of heat for district heating systems in Lithuania. The project also helped to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on imported fossil fuels. It reduced the emissions of nitrogen oxides (NO X), which are harmful pollutants that contribute to acid rain and smog.
