Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage By-laws 1981.

These By-laws implement the Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage Act 1909.; The By-laws provide for the protection of the Water Corporation’s works and property from interference or damage that would hinder or prevent normal operation of the system, and regulate the entry of persons onto Corporation property.; The By-laws intend to prevent the contamination of water stores for distribution by the Corporation, prevent any deterioration of the quality of water collected from the Minister’s catchment areas and water reserves, and to control and manage existing and future development within the catchments and water reserves that could adversely affect water quality.; The By-laws also define provisions governing the licensing, construction and operation of wells; protect the Minister’s production and observation wells form damage or pollution; and prevent contamination of underground water in pollution control areas.; The By-laws further provide for: supply of water and the installation of services and meters; private water supply systems; connection of fixtures and fittings; sewerage services; industrial wastes and plumbing; offences and penalties; etc.
