A Law to abrogate and replace the Fertilizers Law of 1987. With this Law, the Council of fertilizers control is instituted. A written authorisation, issued by the Council, must be obtained before importation, preparation or packaging of any type of fertilizer. The marking of fertilizer packages must comply with prescriptions issued by this Law. The Council may appoint inspectors for controlling the implementation of the present Law and pertinent Regulations. Each inspector can in any time enter in any place where fertilizers are stored or exposed with the aim of verifying the observation of the provisions of the present law. For this reason, is also eligible for fertilizer sampling in order to conduct chemical qualitative controls. The process of sampling as well as the method of analysis shall be determined with Regulations. The Law also provides for a temporary prohibition of disposal onto the market of fertilizers and for the penal prosecution of offenders.
