This Resolution of the Council of Ministers approves the National Strategy for Air (ENAR 2020) aiming to improve air quality for the protection of human health, quality of life and preservation of ecosystems. This Strategy, consisting of 7 sections and 11 Tables, establishes that ENAR 2020 vision is based on improving the air quality through the following main objectives: a) meet in 2020 the emission targets and air quality; b) comply with targets for improvement of air quality recommended for 2020; c) outline the path to be achieved in the long term quality objectives of air recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO); d) align protective measures with the policy on Climate Change addressing both the air pollutants and greenhouse gas effect with benefit to air quality and climate change. To achieve these objectives, ENAR 2020 is based on three axes: a) 'Evaluate' with the diagnosis of emissions and air quality; b) 'Anticipate' through projections of air emissions and air quality planned for 2020; c) Act" with the definition of the strategic vectors of performance and the identification of the respective measures."
