Western Australia Marine (Sea Dumping) Act 1981 (Act No. 111 of 1981).
This Act regulates the loading and dumping of waste at sea, and the incineration of waste in Western Australian waters. The Act also fulfils Western Australia's international obligations under the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and other Matter.; The Act applies to all vessels, aircraft and platforms in Western Australian waters.; Permits are required for all sea dumping operations. Permits are issued for dumping of vessels, platforms or other man-made structures and for burials at sea.; The Act further provides for: procedures and requirements for obtaining a permit; special permits for the dumping or loading of radioactive wastes; appointment and powers of inspectors; permit application fees; etc.
