Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulations, 1978.

These Regulations make provisions for the prevention and control of air pollution.; They place restrictions on the installation of industrial facilities adjacent to residential areas and on the construction of incinerators unless approved by the Director-General. They also specify conditions for open burning of any combustible material or refuse, and permissible dark smoke limits. The text further prescribes permissible limits for the concentration of air impurities in the heating of metals, for the emission of gases, for asphalt concrete plants and bituminous mixing plants and for facilities discharging asbestos and free silica, etc. These Regulations also contain penal provisions and provisions of miscellaneous nature.
