Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (2009 Asp 12).
The aim of this Act is to establish a framework to increase efforts at reducing Kyoto Protocol greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland. The Act creates compulsory climate change targets to reduce Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions.; The Act sets annual, interim and long-term targets to reduce Scotland’s emissions of Kyoto Protocol greenhouse gases by at least 80 percent by the year 2050. The Scottish Ministers may establish a Scottish Committee on Climate Change or designate an existing body to exercise advisory functions. The Act creates duties for the Scottish Ministers and public bodies and also concerns energy efficiency measures.
