The Act is divided into 12 Parts: Administration (1); Public participation (II); Information gathering, objectives, guidelines and codes of practice (3); Pollution prevention (4); Controlling toxic substances (5); Animate products of biotechnology (6); Controlling pollution and managing wastes (7); Environmental matters related to emergencies (8); Government operations and federal and aboriginal land (9); Enforcement (10); Miscellaneous matters (11); Consequential amendments, repeal, transitional provision and coming into force (12).; Part 7 is subdivided into the following divisions: Nutrients; Protection of the marine environment from land-based sources of pollution; Disposal at sea; Fuels; Vehicle, engine and equipment emissions; International air pollution; International water pollution; Control of movement of hazardous waste and hazardous recyclable material and of prescribed non-hazardous waste for final disposal.
