These Regulations issued by the Regulation and Supervision Bureau for the water, wastewater and electricity sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi provide rules relative to the supply of water to the public. The aim of the Regulations is to ensure safe and efficient drinking water supplies to consumers. The Regulations prescribe standards for the quality of water to be supplied and if no standards are specified, the Bureau shall consider either the World Health Organization Water Quality Guidelines or the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA) Drinking Water Standards as a reference for the maximum prescribed concentration or values. In addition, the Regulations make provision for, among other things: relaxation of requirements, monitoring, testing and sampling of water supplies and water in water supply zones and sources, record keeping and release of information by a licensed supplier and enforcement of provisions of these Regulations.
