Royal Decree No. 324/2000 - Basic rules for the management of pig farms.

The present Royal Decree establishes the basic norms by which the application of sanitary and zootechnical management measures of the pig farms is regulated, including among them the maximum productive capacity, the minimum conditions of location, zootechnical, sanitary infrastructure and equipments, that allow an efficient and correct development of the livestock activity in the swine sector, in accordance with current regulations on hygiene, animal health, animal welfare and the environment. Exceptions to this regulation are: a) exploitations in an extensive system, which will be subject to specific regulation; b) exploitations for self-consumption and small farms, except for their registration in the Register of Swine Operations. The intensive production facilities that are part of a mixed production system are also obliged to comply with what is established in this Royal Decree.
