Overview

The project aimed to increase wastewater treatment capacity in Wuhan. This helped improve the water quality of the Yangtze River and its tributaries and protect the environment and public health in Wuhan and downstream areas. component of the Project was to construct new wastewater treatment plants that use advanced biological nitrogen removal (BNR) technology and development and implementation of a nitrogen management plan for Wuhan, which aims to control and reduce the nitrogen inputs from various sources, such as agriculture, industry, and domestic sewage. The plan helped improve the water quality and ecological health of the Yangtze River basin.
