Yunnan Sayu River Basin Rural Water Pollution Management and Eco-Compensation Demonstration Project

This project seeks to improve the conditions of water sources and the environment in Yunnan Sayu River Basin of People’s Republic of China. This will be done by strengthening wastewater management and pollution control in the Sayu River Basin, improvement of water resources management in the aforementioned river along with establishment of an eco-compensation mechanism. This project also will focus on sustainability of the investment by education of the rural population, capacity building and public awareness on water pollution management. Ultimately, the project will work with concerning rural communities to prompt their role sustainability of the project, and potentially reduce the risks for future public catastrophise like the coronavirus pandemic.
